About HEDGELY HOGSPITAL HEDGEHOG RESCUE

We rescue and rehabilitate over 100 injured, sick and orphaned hedgehogs in a private home in Abercych, south west Wales, every year. We now have two rooms in the hogspital and a large shed, with space to care for up to 36 hoggies at any one time.

How it all began
Founded in 2015, Hedgely Hogspital was developed and inspired by the rehabilitation work of Pembrokeshire Hogspital, with the aim of housing six and eight hedgehogs who wouldn't have made it by themselves. Today, we receive a steady stream.

Our ethos and mission
  • To care for sick, injured or orphaned hedgehogs using veterinary guidance.
  • To release all animals that are deemed capable of surviving in the wild.
  • To increase public awareness about the decline in hedgehogs, the hazards they face, and to encourage children to respect hedgehogs and take an interest in them.

Education
We also offer educational events and talks for children about hedgehog conservation.
